Prior to co-founding Barker Mohandas, Paliath Mohandas led and
developed,
over a long period of time, all Otis operations in the Southeast Asia
area;
where he was responsible for over 2,000 employees and many of the world's
largest projects, including the world's largest elevator/lift contract
for the
world's two tallest buildings. He also led technical and marketing operations
for the Asia-Pacific region including sales engineering, field technical
operations, and product management; and was responsible for all major,
special and transit projects in the area. He has also been a member of
the
company's marketing council and strategic planning group, was responsible
for all operations in the Middle East, and directed marketing strategy
at Otis
World Headquarters. At Cosentini Associates Consulting Engineers he led
vertical transportation, and was responsible for system design for the
world's
first four double deck elevator systems - offering very significant savings
in
building core space. Mr. Mohandas co-authored the first-ever paper on
planning
double deck systems, drafted sections of the U.S. ASME-A17.1 elevator-
escalator safety code, and has guest lectured at Yale University and at
Cooper-Union School for the Arts and Sciences in New York.
