Mike Spaner, Principal, started his career at Otis Worldwide Research & Engineering. He developed digital signal processing for measuring human
perception to vibration, evaluated performance for mid-rise machines, developed electrical systems for passenger interfaces, and software to automate
factory contract engineering. He co-invented a solid state safety control design, resulting in one of the company’s most successful products. He then
assisted Rick Barker at Otis World Headquarters, was International Project Manager at Otis European HQ for initial development of a “machine-room-less” elevator, and
a Senior Systems Engineer for Remote Elevator Monitoring (REM). Mike then joined Softcraft Laboratory, when he assisted Barker Mohandas with
software tools. Most recently he was Program Engineering Manager, Distributed Energy Systems, USA, where he led development of regenerative
fuel cells. He holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from RPI, a BSc in same from University of Connecticut, 2 U.S.A patents, and is a member of IEEE.
